Printer-Friendly Format Research Ethics for Undergrads

North Carolina State University

Spring 2009

NCSU Research Ethics

This module provides an introduction to plagiarism, falsification and fabrication of data for College of Agriculture and Life Sciences undergraduates joining research teams on a short-term basis at North Carolina State University. The readings and exercises will assist you in learning to avoid research misconduct.

A brief online module, however, cannot prepare you to conduct research responsibly. You must work closely with your mentor to discuss the potential pitfalls involved in writing research articles and storing, using and interpreting data. If you do not know your mentor's name, your first assignment here is to find out. As the mentoring relationship is a critical part of research, this online course cannot substitute for it.
