5.13 Autobiomusical persons

Some of us hum or sing to make sense of our experiences. Autobiomusicality is the act of using rhythm and melody (musicality) to organize and control the story of the life (bio) of oneself (auto). Autobiomusical persons are persons who use music as their primary means of making sense of the world.

Listen carefully while you watch Amanda Bagg's autobiomusical video. The composer argues that she does not think in words and narratives but in rhythms and melodies and ritualized movements. If Baggs were incapable of constructing arguments and telling stories--as she clearly is not--would she be a case of an autobiomusical person?
