2.9 Conflicts of interests; collaborative research

Conflicts of interest are inherent within institutions of higher education, and should not be considered necessarily a negative circumstance, but one that must be appropriately managed. Interactions between universities and external organizations have increased significantly in recent years and now frequently involve relationships among one or more universities and many external partners. These often complex relationships require that guidelines and policies on Conflicts of Interest be used to assure the importance of academic integrity in research.
